Location

Ravenswood Solar Farm will be located in Ravenswood South, Victoria; 14km north of Castlemaine and approximately 20km south of Bendigo. The site covers approximately 306ha of rural land currently used for crops and grazing.

  • The choice of location for the Solar Farm is driven by two main factors. Firstly, this location has among the highest levels of solar irradiation in Australia. Secondly, the site is well located for exporting the solar farm’s electricity into the national electricity grid.
  • Aside from this, the site is relatively flat, has good accessibility from an existing major road corridor, the Calder Highway.
  • Due to its history of agricultural use and previous land clearing, the project will have limited environmental impact. The site is extensively cleared and used for grazing. The surrounding land is largely rural, with a few nearby residential dwellings
  • The solar farm layout has been specifically designed to avoid disturbing Aboriginal Cultural sensitivity areas.
